In Pursuance of sub-section (3B) of section 63 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1939 (Central Act IV of 1939), the Reciprocal Inter-State Agreement entered into by the Governments of the Union Territory of Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh as specified in the Schedule below to regulate plying of transport vehicles on Inter-State routes and other routes is hereby published in the Official Gazette, the same having been previously published as required by sub-section (3A) of section 63 of the said Act and no objections or suggestions having been received.

I.Stage carriage services .—Inter-State routes for operation of stage carriages of both the States as agreed upon shall be as shown in the Appendix.   The routes specified in Part “A” of the Appendix shall be operated by the operators of Andhra Pradesh and those specified in Part “B” of the Appendix shall be operated by the operators of Pondicherry State .

II.Public carriers and Private carriers .—The quota public carrier and private carrier permits of the State   of Andhra Pradesh to be countersigned by the authorities of the Union Territory of Pondicherry in accordance with the proviso to sub-section (3) of section 63 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1939 (Central Act 4 of 1939) shall he 100 to ply on all routes of Yanam region of the Union Territory of Pondicherry in lieu of allowing 10 goods vehicle of Yanam region of the Union Territory of Pondicherry to ply into the territory of the State of Andhra Pradesh, subject to the condition that the goods vehicles of Yanam plying in the Andhra Pradesh State should operate only on three routes for a distance not exceeding 350 miles (Kms.) each from the State border with three touching stations for each State within a distance of 30 Kms . from the main road, leaving the choice of the routes to the discretion of the operators of the goods vehicles.

IIITaxi cabs .—The quota of taxi cabs (excluding three Wheelers) of the State of Andhra Pradesh to be countersigned by the authorities of the Union Territory of Pondicherry shall be 40 to ply all over the territory of Yanam region of the Union Territory of Pondicherry , in lieu of allowing 4 taxi cabs (excluding three Wheelers) of Yanam region to ply into the State of Andhra Pradesh to operate on all routes in the three contiguous districts of the State of Andhra Pradesh.

IV. Taxation .—Transport vehicles covered by valid countersignature permits in the reciprocating State shall be exempted from the payment of any tax in the reciprocating State.
